Mussoorie is one of the most popular hill-stations in India and is
called the Queen of the Hills. It is located 250 miles north of Delhi,
capital of India at a height of around 7000 ft above the sea level.
It is famous for itÂ’s scenic beauty with quiet flowing rivers, lush
green valleys, rich forests and spectacular views of the Himalayas. It
has a Mall, which is the backbone of the town, and most accommodation is
situated here. During the peak tourist season, cars are not allowed in
this area.
Sites to visit include Gun Hill, you can get to itÂ’s top through a 400
meter ropeway. Just 15 kms. from Mussoorie is Kempty Falls, a waterfall
in the area located in a beautiful valley surrounded by high mountains.
Camel Back Road is famous for horse riding and walking with a good
sunset view of the Himalayas.
Lucknow, City of Nawabs
Lucknow is the capital of Uttar Pradesh situated along the banks of the
River Gomti. A major railway junction, Lucknow is conveniently connected
to many cities and is around 400 kms from Delhi.
The city has a rich historic past, which is obvious from the monuments
which dot the city. IitÂ’s glorious days under the Nawabs (Rulers) made
it a great centre for literature, music, dance, arts and crafts.
It is also known for its elaborate cuisine and exquisite shadow-work
embroidery on fine muslin cloth. Places of interest include the
Hussainabad Imambara built between 1837 and 1842. It has a white dome
and numerous turrets and minarets Another place is the Residency built
for the British in the eighteenth century, originally a very beautiful
building, it was a scene of dramatic events during the Mutiny of 1857.
