Elephant Safari - Corbett National
Park
Corbett National Park, named after the famous conservationist Jim Corbett. Home to the tiger (Panthera Tigris), the natural uniqueness of the area was recognised long ago and so in 1936 Corbett attained the distinction as the first national park to be established in mainland Asia.
The best way to enjoy a safari through this vivid mosaic of habitats - wet and dry, plain and mountainous, gentle and rugged, forests and grasslands is on elephant back. Unlike mechanical modes of transportation, which would disturb the equilibrium of the forest, an elephant safari not only blends in with the environs, but gives you a unique perspective of this territory. An adventure holiday in India is incomplete without an Elephant safari.
Corbett’s wild residents include the Bengal Tiger, the Asiatic Elephant, many species of deer, leopard, monkeys, wild-boars, jackals, otters and crocodiles, but with about 600 species of avifauna, Corbett is one of the richest bird regions of India
